Sonia Wheeler BA (Hons) FPFS
Chartered Financial Planner
Sonia is passionate about financial planning and building financial plans for private clients, combining Chartered Financial Advice with bespoke Wealth Management to help achieve clients’ objectives and goals. Sonia is well regarded amongst her peers as a holistic financial planner.
Having entered the Financial Services sector in 2003, Sonia joined Essential Wealth in 2006, became Managing Director in 2012 and subsequently purchased the business from founder Helen Newport. Sonia is a Fellow member of the Personal Finance Society, the highest qualification awarded by the Chartered Insurance Institute. Sonia divides her time between our Newbury and London offices.
In November 2016 Sonia achieved ‘Best Female Wealth Adviser – UK’ awarded by Corporate Vision Magazine and in 2015 was ranked 3rd by Financial Times Adviser who compiled a league of the top UK female financial planners.
Sonia enjoys travel and is a keen equestrian, competing in dressage. Sonia has taken part in a variety of cycling events raising money for charity. Her most recent challenge was the 100 mile Prudential RideLondon in July 2017.
Marc Sullivan BA(Hons) FPFS
Chartered Financial Planner
Marc joined Essential Wealth in May 2015 and in his early career completed our Graduate Trainee Programme after achieving his Business degree. Marc has attained the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning, achieving Chartered status, and is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, the highest qualification awarded by the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Marc has nine years’ experience in Financial Services and in addition to a passion for financial planning, brings with him extensive knowledge and technical experience.
Marc is a keen footballer, supporting Reading FC and regularly playing for a local team, Kintbury Rangers. Marc also likes to run and has completed his first half marathon raising money for The Openwork Foundation.
Hannah Turley DipPFS
Chartered Client Manager
Hannah joined in 2011 and as a Chartered Client Manager she works closely with Sonia, preparing financial reports, liaising with clients and managing their administration.
Hannah has taken the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualifications throughout her career and in 2017 attained the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning. She is one of the youngest members in the UK to hold Chartered Status.
In November 2016 Hannah reached the final stages of the ‘Paraplanner of the Year‘ awards, being one of just 8 finalists to reach the final stages based on her work with clients and her professional development.
Attention to detail is one of Hannah’s main strengths and she is dedicated to providing unrivalled service. Hannah enjoys building relationships with the clients she manages.
Hannah is a keen swimmer and runner and has completed a variety of running events for charity.
Gemma Cooper Cert.ICSA
Gemma joined the team in February 2016. Gemma assists Sonia on a day to day basis, ensures the smooth running of our offices and the administration for Propel Accountancy Ltd, our Associated Professional based within the same Newbury offices as Essential Wealth. Essential Wealth Associated Professionals
Gemma is passionate about organisation, efficiency and attention to detail. Gemma holds the Cert.ICSA (Company Secretarial Practice and Share Registration Practice) qualification and has valuable experience working within professional services.
Gemma enjoys travel and spending time being in the countryside with her horses and dog. Gemma is keen on fitness and completed a Tough Mudder in August 2016 for The Openwork Foundation.
Rebecca da Silva Wheeler PhD CSci
Rebecca was appointed as a Director in 2017 and is involved in the business on a high-level basis. She brings a range of transferrable skills and is passionate about the delivery of exceptional client service.
After completing her PhD, Rebecca progressed to be a Chartered Scientist and is a Senior Technical Consultant by trade, specialising in soil science.
Rebecca is a keen explorer and enjoys travelling the world and meeting new people. She has two young children who keep her busy outside of work.
