Sonia Wheeler BA (Hons) FPFS
Chartered Financial Planner
Sonia is passionate about financial planning and building financial plans for private clients, combining Chartered Financial Advice with bespoke Wealth Management to help achieve clients’ objectives and goals. Sonia is well regarded amongst her peers as a holistic financial planner.
Having entered the Financial Services sector in 2003, Sonia joined Essential Wealth in 2006, became Managing Director in 2012 and subsequently purchased the business from founder Helen Newport. Sonia is a Fellow member of the Personal Finance Society, the highest qualification awarded by the Chartered Insurance Institute. She is an Associate member of the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA).
Sonia divides her time between our Newbury and London offices.
In 2018 Sonia was awarded ‘Wealth Adviser of the year 2018 – UK’ by Acquisition International and was voted ‘Financial Adviser of the Year – South East’ in the Women in Financial Advice awards, where she was also awarded Highly Commended in the overall category. In 2016 Sonia achieved ‘Best Female Wealth Adviser – UK’ awarded by Corporate Vision Magazine and in 2015 was ranked 3rd by Financial Times Adviser who compiled a league of the top UK female financial planners.
Sonia enjoys travel and spends much of her spare time training her horse and competing in dressage. Sonia has taken part in a variety of cycling events both in the UK and overseas raising money for charity. Her last challenge was the Prudential 100 miles in 2017.
Marc Sullivan BA(Hons) FPFS
Chartered Financial Planner
Marc joined Essential Wealth in May 2015 and in his early career completed our Graduate Trainee Programme after achieving his Business degree. Marc has attained the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning, achieving Chartered status, and is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, the highest qualification awarded by the Chartered Insurance Institute. He is an Associate member of the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA).
Marc has over ten years’ experience in Financial Services and in addition to a passion for financial planning, brings with him extensive knowledge and technical experience.
Marc is a keen footballer, supporting Reading FC and regularly playing for a local team, Kintbury Rangers. Marc also likes to run and has completed his first half marathon raising money for The Openwork Foundation.
Hannah Turley DipPFS
Chartered Client Manager
Hannah joined in 2011 and as a Chartered Client Manager. She works closely with Sonia, preparing financial reports, liaising with clients and managing their administration. Within the Financial Services industry, Hannah’s role is known as a ‘Paraplanner’.
Hannah has taken the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualifications throughout her career and in 2017 attained the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning, being one of the youngest members to achieve Chartered Status.
Hannah was one of just three finalists in the 2018 ‘Paraplanner of the Year’ Personal Finance Society awards. Hannah was shortlisted based on her work with clients and her professional achievements and reached the final stages after completing an in depth financial planning case study. Hannah was also one of eight finalists to reach the final stages of the Professional Adviser ‘Paraplanner of the Year awards’, in 2017.
Attention to detail is one of Hannah’s main strengths and she is dedicated to providing unrivalled service. Hannah enjoys building relationships with the clients she manages.
Hannah is a keen swimmer and runner and has completed a variety of running events for charity
Lisa Morris CeMAP
Lisa joined the team in November 2018 and manages our office as well as assisting Sonia with the running of the business on a day to day basis.
Lisa is passionate about organisation, efficiency and attention to detail. She manages both our Newbury and London offices and the relationships with our Associated Professionals
Lisa has worked in financial services for 18 years and brings with her extensive valuable experience having largely specialised in management and compliance. Lisa holds several financial services industry qualifications including the Certificate of Mortgage Advice & Practice (CeMAP)
Lisa enjoys spending time in the countryside and, alongside her dog, is a keen runner and hiker. Lisa is passionate about health and nutrition and is a superb cook.
Natasha Blackmore BSc
Assistant Client Manager
Natasha joined the team in November 2018, after graduating with a Mathematics Degree from the University of Exeter, and has started our Graduate Trainee Programme.
Natasha is keen to apply her analytical mind to the Financial Services Industry and is enthusiastic to expand her knowledge and experience whilst obtaining the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) financial administration and then financial planning qualifications.
Whilst as a graduate trainee, Natasha will be assisting our Client Managers in looking after client’s administration. She looks forward to working with clients and building her career.
When the weather permits, Natasha spends most of her weekends powering across the waters on the family RIB. If the weather is less forgiving, Natasha turns her attention to baking.
Rebecca da Silva Wheeler PhD CSci
Rebecca was appointed as a Director in 2017 and is involved in the business on a high-level basis. She brings a range of transferrable skills and is passionate about the delivery of exceptional client service.
After completing her PhD, Rebecca progressed to be a Chartered Scientist and is a Senior Technical Consultant by trade, specialising in soil science.
Rebecca is a keen explorer and enjoys travelling the world and meeting new people. She has two young children who keep her busy outside of work.
